Job Description
Our client, an upscale local hotel located in the vibrant Hawthorn/Camberwell area, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Chef to join their team. The wine bar offers a unique dining experience, specializing in high-quality food and exceptional wine pairings.
Job Responsibilities :
- Menu Creation & Execution: Develop and execute an innovative menu, with a focus on fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients. The role requires a creative approach to creating dishes that complement the wine offerings while delivering a fine dining experience.
- Kitchen Leadership: Lead and manage a small kitchen team, ensuring high standards of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene are maintained at all times. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior kitchen staff and promoting a positive working environment.
- Stock & Inventory Management: Oversee inventory and manage stock levels to ensure smooth kitchen operations. This includes ordering supplies, maintaining food costs, and minimizing waste.
- Quality Control: Ensure consistency and high standards of food quality and presentation at all times, even during peak service periods.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of meals to guests.
- Menu Updates: Regularly update the menu in collaboration with management to ensure it stays fresh, innovative, and in line with seasonal trends.
Job Requirements :
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a high-end restaurant or hospitality environment, preferably with experience in a lead or head chef role.
- Strong knowledge of modern cooking techniques and trends, with the ability to create visually stunning dishes.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing a kitchen team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative, ensuring that kitchen operations run smoothly.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with the front-of-house and management teams.
